Technology and Learning at St Paul's

We know that as a parent, handing your child a device can feel like a big step. At St Paul’s, we want you to feel confident that technology in our classrooms is always purposeful, carefully managed and firmly in the hands of teachers who know how to use it well.

Since 2010, we have been proud to run a one-to-one iPad program for students from Year 1 to Year 6 – giving every child access to a powerful learning tool that opens up creative, collaborative and future-focused learning experiences every single day. Technology at St Paul’s isn’t about screen time for its own sake. It’s about equipping your child with the digital skills, critical thinking and responsible habits they’ll need for the world they’re growing up in.

For our Prep students, the introduction to technology is gentle and gradual. Preps have access to shared iPads in the classroom, which are introduced slowly throughout the year and used purposefully for targeted learning activities – always under teacher guidance and always at the right pace for little learners.

Our BYOD Program — Bringing Learning to Life

Our iPad program runs as a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program for Years 1 to 6, giving families the flexibility to choose an iPad that suits their needs and budget. We recommend selecting a model compatible with the latest iPadOS updates, with the following storage as a guide:

  • Years 1 to 4 — minimum 64GB
  • Years 5 and 6 — minimum 128GB

What You'll Need

To set your child up for success, here’s a simple checklist:

  • A protective case with your child’s name clearly labelled
  • Headphones compatible with your chosen iPad model – please note that Bluetooth headphones and keyboards are not permitted for NAPLAN testing in Years 3 and 5, so wired headphones are the best choice

Getting Set Up — Easier Than You Think!

Setting up your child’s iPad to connect to our school network is straightforward, and our friendly IT team is here to help every step of the way. Here’s what you’ll need to do:

  1. Accept the Agreement — Log into Parent Lounge and accept the Internet & Digital Technology Agreement
  2. Apple ID — Ensure you have an Apple ID ready to install the necessary apps
  3. Install Intune Company Portal — Download this free app from the Apple App Store
  4. Follow our iPad Setup Guide — provided by the school, this walks you through connecting to our resources and applications
