Outdoor Education @ St Paul’s

At St Paul’s Lutheran Primary School, learning goes beyond the classroom. Our Outdoor Education program is designed to enrich students’ understanding of the world through real-life experiences that promote curiosity, independence, teamwork, and resilience.

Excursions & Incursions – From Prep Onwards

From their very first year, students at St Paul’s participate in carefully planned excursions and incursions that connect directly with the curriculum and bring learning to life. These experiences provide opportunities to explore the natural world, engage with history and culture, and discover new perspectives. Some past experiences have included:
  • Exploring wildlife and conservation at Australia Zoo
  • Stepping back in time at St Helena Island
  • Discovering history and science at local and state museums
  • Welcoming engaging guest presenters and interactive workshops into the classroom
These experiences help spark imagination and provide valuable hands-on learning in safe, structured settings.

Camps – Building Confidence and Independence

From Year 3 onwards, students take part in our progressive camp program, designed to gradually build confidence, leadership skills, and independence as they grow.

Each camp is carefully chosen to suit the developmental stage of the students and provide age-appropriate challenges in a supportive environment. Camps include opportunities for outdoor adventure, team-building activities, and personal growth.

A highlight of our program is the Year 6 Canberra Camp, where students learn firsthand about government, civics, and national identity. It’s a memorable and meaningful experience that brings their learning to life in the nation’s capital.

Outdoor education at St Paul’s strengthens connections—with nature, with others, and with learning. These shared experiences create lasting memories and help our students grow into capable, confident, and compassionate young people.
