In the Senior School at St Paul’s, students build upon the foundations laid in Junior School, with a continued focus on developing academic, social, and emotional growth. Our curriculum includes learning experiences in the areas of English, Mathematics, and Inquiry (History and Social Sciences [HASS], Science and Technology). Christian Studies is based on the Lutheran Education Australian Christian Studies Framework.
Health and Physical Education, The Arts (Visual Art, Media Arts, Dance & Drama), Japanese, Library and Music are the specialist subjects at St Paul’s. These subjects challenge students to think critically and creatively, while also encouraging collaboration and independent learning.
In Senior School, students continue to develop their reading skills through more advanced texts and materials. They are encouraged to read across different genres and texts to further improve comprehension, fluency, and a positive reading attitude. Independent reading is emphasized, with the expectation that students engage with a variety of reading sources.
In Senior School, we continue to foster a strong foundation in mathematics through rich problem-solving tasks, investigations, and real-world applications. Students are encouraged to explore mathematical concepts in depth, building confidence in their reasoning and critical thinking abilities.
Christian Studies remains an important part of our Senior School curriculum. Based on the Lutheran Education Australia Christian Studies Framework, the program explores key Christian beliefs and values, supporting students’ spiritual growth and their development of empathy, kindness, and ethical decision-making.
In the Senior School, we combine subjects like Science, History, Social Sciences (HASS), and Technology into Inquiry Units. These interdisciplinary units encourage deeper exploration and connections between disciplines, with an emphasis on student-driven inquiry and critical thinking. Each unit focuses on key concepts, with guiding questions that prompt investigation and reflection. Parents will receive detailed information about each unit through the term overviews shared on Seesaw.
We provide ongoing Learning Support in Senior School to ensure all students are able to reach their full potential. The Learning Support team works closely with classroom teachers to offer personalized strategies for students who require additional assistance. Parents are encouraged to communicate any concerns or learning needs, ensuring that each student receives the support they need to thrive academically.
