Senior School Curriculum at St Paul's

In our Senior School, students build confidently on the strong foundations developed in Junior School. Academic growth continues hand in hand with social and emotional development, ensuring every child is supported as a whole person – not just as a learner.

Our Senior School curriculum covers English, Mathematics, and Inquiry (incorporating History and Social Sciences, Science and Technology), with Christian Studies continuing as an integral part of school life, grounded in the Lutheran Education Australia Christian Studies Framework.

Specialist subjects – Health and Physical Education, The Arts (Visual Art, Media Arts, Dance and Drama), Japanese, Library and Music – challenge students to think critically and creatively, while fostering collaboration and independent thinking.

Reading - Growing Confident, Curious Readers

In Senior School, students continue to develop and deepen their reading skills through increasingly complex and varied texts. We encourage students to explore different genres and reading materials, strengthening their comprehension, fluency and love of reading along the way. Independent reading is a valued part of Senior School life, with students encouraged to engage with a wide variety of sources both in and beyond the classroom.

Mathematics - Thinking Deeply, Reasoning Confidently

Our Senior School mathematics program continues to build on the curiosity and confidence developed in the Junior years. Through rich problem-solving tasks, investigations and real-world applications, students are encouraged to explore mathematical concepts with depth and purpose. We want every student to leave St Paul’s believing in themselves as capable mathematical thinkers.

Christian Studies - Faith, Values and Character

Christian Studies remains a meaningful and valued part of Senior School life at St Paul’s. Through the Lutheran Education Australia Christian Studies Framework, students explore key Christian beliefs and wrestle with questions of values, empathy, kindness and ethical decision-making. It’s a program that supports not just spiritual growth, but the development of young people of strong character who are ready to contribute positively to the world around them.

Integrated Studies - Curious Minds, Connected Learning

In Senior School, Science, History, Social Sciences (HASS) and Technology come together in rich, student-driven Inquiry Units that encourage deeper thinking and meaningful connections across disciplines. Each unit is anchored by key concepts and guiding questions that prompt genuine investigation and reflection.

Families are kept informed about each unit through detailed term overviews shared via Seesaw, so you always know what your child is exploring and how you can support the learning journey at home.

Learning Support - Personalised, Purposeful Support

Every student in our Senior School deserves the opportunity to thrive – and our dedicated Learning Support team is here to make that happen. Working closely with classroom teachers, the team provides personalised strategies and targeted support for students who need a little extra assistance along the way.

We value your insight as a parent. If you have any concerns about your child’s learning at any point, please reach out – open communication between home and school is one of the most powerful tools we have in helping your child succeed.

Growing Leaders

At St Paul’s, every Year 6 student has an equal opportunity to pursue a leadership role, whether that’s School Captain, Faith and Service, Sports or Arts Captain. Our selection process is thorough and meaningful, involving a personal application, a peer vote and a formal interview with our Deputy Principal. It’s a program that builds real confidence, communication skills and self-belief in every child who takes part.
